In My Stepson Wants Me, Linda has married Warren, a man old enough to be her father, and his money pays for her mother's hospital treatment. His son Julian has ignored and humiliated her for years, until a family camping trip, when he starts pursuing her behind his father's back. The My Stepson Wants Me ending blows the secret open: Warren catches them in episode 37 and orders Linda out of his house, and the series closes on Linda, pregnant with Julian's child, marrying Julian.
A marriage paid for by a hospital bill
Episode 1 of this 16+ drama flashes back to where it began. Julian, who has had a crush on Linda since high school, is about to confess when his father introduces her as his future wife. Julian points out that Warren has already had four wives and is old enough to be her father, and says he won't come to the wedding.
A few years into the marriage, Julian barely comes home. On the horse in episode 1, Linda tells him she thought he hated her, and Julian answers:
"You think I hate you? I should hate you."
Julian's grudge is older than the marriage. In episode 4 he says that when he was five, Warren cheated on his mother and drove her to an early grave.
One horse and a promise to obey
The trip starts with a single rented horse. Warren tells Linda to ride with Julian or walk to the campsite (episode 1), and Julian agrees to help her up on one condition: whatever happens next, she does what he says (episode 2).
With Warren riding ahead, Julian uses that promise to touch her. He threatens to put her off the horse if she breaks her word (episode 3), and when she tells him to get away from her and let go, he keeps going (episode 4). Her narration admits she is drawn to him, even while she tells him to stop.
In episode 10 Linda tells Julian to stop because she is his stepmother; he says he has never accepted that, and she decides it must be revenge. In episode 11 he orders her to turn Warren down that night or he will tell his father everything, and she calls his bluff: he has no proof.
A storm, one tent and an "I love you"
Rain flattens Julian's tent in episode 13, so all three share Warren's, and Julian keeps refilling his father's drinks until Warren is out cold (episode 14). Linda turns Warren down with an excuse, and she and Julian sleep together, first beside the sleeping Warren and then outside in the rain (episodes 15–18).
Out there, Julian tells her to divorce his father, since what his mother left him could keep them living like royalty for 300 years (episode 17). In episode 18 he says, "Linda, I love you."
In the morning Warren notices Linda's change of dress, and she blames a puddle (episodes 19–20). Then she tells Julian that if this was revenge, he has made his point, and last night never happened (episode 20). Julian keeps his reply to himself:
"Why would she rather believe this is some kind of punishment than believe I actually love her?"
Caroline joins the family trip
At the river Warren runs into Caroline, his ex-wife, invites her onto their raft and flirts with her in front of Linda (episodes 22–23). When Warren refuses to bungee jump with Linda, Julian goes with her instead (episode 25). Someone at the jump calls Julian her boyfriend, and he answers, "Yes, I am" (episode 26).
In episode 29 Caroline says she twisted her ankle on the raft, and in episode 30 Warren leaves to take her to a clinic, leaving Linda alone with Julian.
What Julian was hiding for years
In episode 31 Julian starts again while Linda tells him to stop, and she asks whether she is just a toy to him. In episode 32 Julian explains that he has liked her for a long time, and that the cruelty she remembers was protection.
At one dinner Warren had lost a bet and was going to give Linda to another man, so Julian spilled wine on her to get her out. He broke her heels and ruined her shoes because Caroline, who wanted Warren back, had people waiting outside to humiliate her. Then he asks:
"Why did the first girl I ever loved have to become my stepmother?"
Julian adds that he followed her to the same college to confess, only to find out she was marrying his father (episode 33). In episode 34 he asks her to leave Warren and be his wife. Linda refuses, because her mother is still in a hospital bed waiting for money.
Julian answers with a threat: if she won't leave Warren, he will make sure she can never leave him by getting her pregnant. She tells him to stop and warns that she is not on birth control, and he refuses, saying a child is the only way she will truly be his (episodes 34–35). He continues after a clear no, with the stated aim of trapping her.
My Stepson Wants Me ending explained: caught, cut off and married
In short: Warren catches Linda with Julian in episode 37. Julian promises to repay every cent Warren spent on her and disowns his father, who orders Linda out of his house and starts a divorce. Linda is pregnant with Julian's child, and episode 40 ends with their wedding.
After the trip, Warren spends most of his time with Caroline, while Julian comes to Linda every night and demands "punishments" she fears refusing (episode 36). In episode 37 Warren pounds on the door and walks in on them.
In episode 38 Warren rages at Linda. Julian tells him he doesn't get to hit her and announces that Linda is leaving him to marry Julian. Warren throws back the one fact he holds over her:
"I paid for your mother's treatment, and this is how you repay me?"
Julian promises to pay back every cent (episode 39). When Warren protests, Julian says he stopped having a father the day Warren drove his mother to her grave. Caroline tells Warren he still has her, and Warren orders Linda out of his house, saying his lawyer will handle the divorce.
Julian tells Linda it is time to give their baby a real home. In episode 40 Linda answers his "I love you" with a halting "too," and the final scene is their wedding: the vows, "I do," and a kiss.
The My Stepson Wants Me ending is staged as a rescue. Julian got there by ignoring Linda's refusals, threatening to expose her and trying to trap her with a pregnancy, and the series never questions any of it.
