On her 18th birthday, Selina is named heir of the Hunter family. That same night her father hands her to Lucian, the Vampire King who has just slaughtered her people, to buy the family peace. The No Escape From The Vampire ending is still a happy one: Selina saves Lucian with her own blood, he crushes Duke Victor's rebellion and refuses Lilith's last plea, and in episodes 59–60 she is a vampire, carrying his child and facing eternity at his side by choice.

A blood oath on her birthday

Her father has just named her heir when the vampires break in. Within minutes he submits to Lucian and offers her to end the attack, and Selina refuses to go quietly:

"I am a vampire hunter. I would rather die with my family than become the Vampire King's captive." (episode 1)

Lucian plants a blood oath in her body instead; from episode 2 he can feel her pain. When she dances with a duke to prove she is not his, Lucian turns on the man in front of the court: anyone who touches her dies.

Three escapes and a silver dagger

In episodes 4–7 Selina climbs out, bargains a ferrywoman down to three gold coins and is caught on the water, then fakes a bathroom stop and swims for it. A water demon nearly drains her, and Lucian is the one who pulls her out.

He is possessive, but he draws one line. When Selina threatens in episode 11 to kill herself rather than be forced, he stops and promises not to force her, sure she will come to him willingly. Lilith, at his side for 200 years, listens at the door as they fake the consummation vampire law demands.

At the succession banquet in episodes 13–16, the nobles order the human queen to drink a captive girl's blood, then demand that Lucian turn her or depose her. He kisses her instead of biting her and has the girl escorted out of the castle. When the girl's body turns up in the garden, Selina concludes he hunted her down.

Her pure silver dagger in episodes 18–21 does not even leave a scar. Lucian tells her a silver blade might work on ordinary vampires but not on the Vampire King, and that it only went in because he allowed it. Her last run, through the market in episodes 24–28, ends in the shop of a man wearing a hunter's badge, really a 300-year-old skunk spirit who traps runaway humans.

Why Selina stops running

The blood oath works both ways. In episode 29 Lucian feels Selina in danger during a council meeting and goes to the market in daylight although the sun burns him. He kills the skunk spirit, then finally explains himself.

He can live on animal blood, he tells her, and the bite he gave her was a ritual, not feeding. Three hundred years ago, hunters shot his father with a silver arrow, burned his mother alive and chained his six-year-old sister in the sun. Selina, raised to believe hunters were the righteous ones, can only ask whether hunters really did that.

In episode 33 Selina goes to him on her own, answering his boast from episode 11:

"You said I'd come to you on my own. Here I am." (episode 33)

By episode 34 she is telling him she loves him.

No Escape From The Vampire ending explained

In short: Lucian survives Lilith's poison because Selina gives him her blood, he crushes Duke Victor's rebellion and refuses Lilith's last plea, and by episode 60 Selina is a vampire carrying Lucian's child, choosing eternity with him.

The poisoned cake (episodes 35–46)

Selina bakes Lucian a cake in episode 35. Lilith drops by to say she is stepping aside, asks for a goodbye hug, and laughs that Selina fell for it. By episode 40 Lucian is dying. A silver blade could not hurt him, but silver venom in the blood is fatal to vampires, king included, and only a large amount of pure human blood within the hour can save him.

As the only human there, Selina tells him to bite her. Lilith accuses her of poisoning the king for the hunters, and the clan tries to drag her away, but she will not pull her arm back. Lucian wakes in episode 44, points out that a killer would simply have let him die, and in episode 45 banishes Lilith forever.

Victor's trap at the church (episodes 47–55)

The bite starts Selina's change; in episode 47 she can suddenly count his eyelashes. Meanwhile Duke Victor offers the banished Lilith his army. In episode 50 a servant tells Selina about Soulblood Grass, a blue herb that might clear Lucian's lingering poison, hidden in the tombs beneath an abandoned church near the border.

The herb is a lie. Lilith chains Selina in a cursed forest and promises to ruin her face, and Selina tells her Victor will kill her first once he takes the throne. Back at the castle the servant confesses that he lured her to the church, where Victor and Lilith are waiting, and Lucian, still poisoned, goes anyway.

The rescue and the final scenes (episodes 56–60)

Victor tells Lucian that loving a human is his greatest weakness, and for a moment the poison makes it look true. Then Lucian gets up and tears into him: "For her, there's nothing I can't overcome."

In episode 58 Lilith begs for mercy. Lucian lists her crimes (the murdered girl, the poisoned cake, the trap), calls her love too poisonous to bear and orders everyone involved in the rebellion executed.

By the finale Selina is a vampire, and pregnant. In episode 60 Lucian tells her he once thought immortality was a curse, but with her and their baby beside him he will never be alone again, and Selina says she won't be either.

Where Selina, Lucian and the villains end up

  • Selina: Lucian's queen, a vampire and expecting their child.

  • Lucian: alive and still king, with a family on the way after 527 years.

  • Lilith: banished in episode 45, then caught in the rebellion and refused mercy in episode 58.

  • Duke Victor: overpowered by Lucian at the church in episode 57, his rebellion over.

What the title means by the end

Lucian swears in episode 2 that she will never escape. By episode 60 nobody is guarding her: she stopped running in episode 33 by choice, and the eternity he once called a curse becomes something they share.
