Kael fixes broken machines at a motel to pay for his daughter's tuition. Nobody at Hale Wolf Academy knows he is the retired Supreme Alpha of the Moon Temple, so when pureblood heirs burn Alara with silver and their families offer her to a vampire lord, they assume her father is nobody. The Hidden Lycan Alpha ending pays that mistake back in full: Alara survives, everyone who hurt her is punished, and the vampire Vladimir ends up dead. Vladimir's last taunt reveals that Kael's wife Luna was murdered, and by episode 75 Kael knows it was over a treasure map and sends 800,000 troops toward the capital to find who gave the order.

A retired king who only wants to cook dinner

Episode 1 finds Kael at a motel, mocked by his boss as a drifter who can't even shift into wolf form. An old comrade tracks him down with news that the vampires plan to strike at a banquet hosted by the four pureblood noble families. Kael has been out for 12 years, since Luna died, and he says no.

"I still need to go back and cook for my daughter." (Kael, episode 1)

Alara has her own war. She won the Moon Goddess Scholarship on merit, and pureblood students Darius and Seraphina punish her for it with insults and silver burns. When Kael comes to the school, their mothers, Lady Valeria and Isolid Cross, demand that Alara apologize, and the bullies have already threatened her father's life. So she claims she fell into a pile of discarded silverware and says she accused them out of jealousy. When the guards are ordered to hurt her father, she kneels to stop them.

That ends the quiet life. Kael calls Gareth, the Law Enforcer of the North, on a top-secret communicator that has not rung in 12 years.

The banquet where Alara was the gift

The families have a plan of their own. To win over Vladimir, a 300-year-old vampire who prefers the blood of young werewolves whose powers have not awakened, they choose Alara as his welcoming gift and agree to send ghouls after her father once the feast is over. In episode 11 she is pulled into a car on her way home, and the Moon Temple's tracking array places her at the vampire-werewolf banquet.

There, the families set silver-armed guards on the "janitor" and call in Silas, the Underground Emperor of the East, whose two best fighters are retired Moon Temple guards. Gareth arrives and bows to the janitor, Kael beats Silas's two fighters in the blink of an eye, and Silas's side recognizes the Divine Moonshield, an aura only the legendary Supreme Alpha could manifest.

Kael finally reaches Alara in a hidden room behind the hall.

"Dad, please don't fight them anymore. Just stay safe. I don't want you to die." (Alara, episode 19)

In episode 21 Gareth tells Silas who the janitor really is: Prime Alpha Kael, the Lycan King. Over the next episodes Silas begs forgiveness and fights at his side, Alara is flown out for treatment, and Kael kills Vladimir's three vampire barons in three moves.

Three sins, and the families crack

In episode 30 Kael names three sins: the children bullied his daughter and blamed her, the parents sold her like livestock, and they colluded with the vampires. The families crack at once. They blame each other, call him a fake and offer a billion in compensation, and Darius's own father badly injures him in front of the hall to save the rest of the family.

Vladimir, the badge and the chairman who chose the vampires

Vladimir arrives in episodes 36–37 claiming he killed the Supreme Alpha 12 years ago, with the Wolf God Mask as his trophy. Council Chairman Horan of the Seven States backs him with hundreds of thousands of guards. Kael fires Horan on the spot, then produces the Five-Star General's badge the president gave the Alpha 12 years ago, and the room finally understands who he is.

Horan begs, then attacks, and dies (episodes 48–51). Vladimir's thousand-year vampire art fails as well, because Kael's inner wolf grew past the Supreme level during the years he spent hiding.

Kael's orders in episode 54 cut deeper than any fight. Gareth exposes the bullying across the Eastern Territory, every past victim is to be found, and the Moon Temple cuts off the four families forever. The families then turn on each other, and by episode 58 Kael is told that everyone who hurt Alara has paid.

The Hidden Lycan Alpha ending explained

In short: Alara survives and every pureblood who bullied her is punished, Vladimir and Chairman Horan both die, but the finale is a cliffhanger: Kael learns why his late wife Luna was murdered and marches 800,000 troops on the capital to find who ordered it.

Beaten, Vladimir taunts Kael that he does not even know his queen was assassinated. In episode 59 he adds that Alara's missing wolf is part of the same scheme and that he holds Luna's map fragment, but he is silenced mid-sentence, before he can name who was behind it, and the subtitles never show who silenced him. By episode 73 he is dead: Kael tells Musk so while holding the map fragment Vladimir had carried.

While Alara recovers at the Moon Temple Clinic in episodes 60–66, one more bully turns up. Ted, who knows her from Hale Wolf Academy and boasts that he is Silas's nephew, tries to take her VIP room and shrugs off the bullying he did to her. Kael takes his legs. When Silas arrives, he hits his own nephew, waives the bill, gives Alara five million for snacks and throws Ted out of the Black Blood, all without revealing who her father is. Lyra visits with news about the map, and in episode 69 she confesses she has loved Kael since she was a kid and never married because of him. He asks to talk after the auction, and Alara promises to help Lyra win him over.

Lyra's news: a second map fragment is up for sale at a werewolf charity auction, and Musk, a werewolf tycoon who was among Kael's biggest rivals when Luna was assassinated, wants it. Musk bids 50 billion. Kael refuses to pay for something that belonged to his queen and orders Musk to hand it over.

Before Kael can get a name, someone slips away. The subtitles say only "He got away," and Musk is the man being questioned. Kael sends the sacred order: 800,000 troops march on the capital.

"This time, I'm finding whoever's behind this." (Kael, episode 75)

Still open at the end: who runs the organization, what the treasure is, and why Alara cannot shift.

Where Kael and Alara end up

  • Kael: out of hiding, holding the president's badge and going to war for Luna.

  • Alara: out of danger and free of her tormentors. Kael still hides his identity from her at the Moon Temple Clinic, and the subtitles never show him telling her outright.
